Description
This is an antique sterling silver souvenir spoon from the 1893 Columbian Expo World's Fair, held in Chicago, Illinois. The handle is very ornate, front and back, and the bowl is embossed with Columbus's ship and "1492 Columbia Anniversary 1893".
The spoon is about 3-3/4" long.
Maker's marks: "Sterling" and "S", unsure of the hallmark, but possibly Shepard.
Weight: about 8.2 grams.
Engraving: None.
Condition: This spoon is in good condition with some light wear and some tarnish, not much. The indentations on the back of the bowl are not flaws, but are from the making of the spoon, repousse, where the design is pushed in from the back. Good condition with minor light wear, quite a bit of tarnish and could use a good polishing.
