Beautiful, high
quality, heavy 5-7/8 inch long sterling silver spoon from Richmond Virginia
dating to years around 1900 featuring on the front of the handle starting at
the top: banner reading RICHMOND, below portrait of general R.E. LEE, then WASHINGTON
MONUMENT, then squirrel and lastly tall column CONFEDERATE MONUMENT down the
handle. Bowl embossed with very detailed image of monument, the writing is LEE
MONUMENT, RICHMOND, VA. On the back of the handle the following is shown: STATE
CAPITOL, state seal with lady warrior holding sword and spear standing over king
with his crown laying by his head, the writing is SIC SIMPER TYRANNIS, below
ST. JOHN CHURCH, CONFEDERATE MUSEUM and plant down the handle. Measures 5
7/8" long (148 mm), feels heavy, weights 27.9 grams and it is in excellent
condition. On the back marked STERLING and has hallmark with the old mark of H
on a pennant for Mechanics Sterling Company, which was subsidiary of Watson
