    Description

This is an antique solid silver spoon from the Netherlands, known as a monkey spoon, from around 1900 or so.  They were custom made to depict important events, such as births, deaths, weddings and the like and made to hang on the rim of a punch bowl.  The Dutch liked to hide hallmarks, so we may have missed some.  It can be fun trying to find them.  I've sold a number of these over the years, and it is interesting to see how many are still around.
The spoon has a putti cherub on the Boss or Stop (flat applied section on the handle); and a bird on the finial hook.
The oval bowl depicts a man fishing and a woman about to cross a bridge, with buildings and a tree in the background.
Only two marks that we can find, are both on the back of the handle.  This spoon might be very old, possibly pre-1850.  There is a dolphin/key mark and another unclear mark.
It is about 5" long.  These were made of 833/1000 silver, mostly in the late 1800's and early 1900's.  It weighs about 19.3 grams.
The bowl itself measures about 2-1/2" long and about 1-5/8" wide and about 1/2" deep.
