    Description

Pine Cones and needles with cut out background decorate this cute little spoon. Rangeley Maine is hand engraved in the bowl.
Rangeley started as a small settlement in a lake region of Maine. By the late 1800's it was becoming a popular destination for fishermen, and lodges were built in the area. By 1910 the town has banks, schools and all the other necessities of a busy town. The "golden age" for Rangeley Maine was in the 1920's and 30's when trains and buses brought people from the big cities for a summer vacation. this is probably the time period when this spoon was sold.
Single die, the back is blank.
    Weight 8.72 grams, length 4 1/8"
The spoon has a very small amount of tarnish, I have not cleaned it. This spoon has only a little scuffing from careless storage, please see pictures.
Maker: Charles M. Robbinsestablished 1892, symbol R in a diamond with 3 bars behind that looks like awing or superhero cape.
Souvenir spoons were introduced in America in 1891 and remained popular through 1915. They had a short revival in the 1920's. Most silver souvenir spoons are over 100 years old. Unless dated, I do not know the exact age of the spoons I am selling.
